WHAT IS BREAST LIFT SURGERY?
The bonds that hold the breast tissue in place may loosen over time. Depending on weight changes, breastfeeding and influence of gravity, there may be incompatibility between the breast tissue and the skin envelope surrounding it. The problem may arise from breast tissue, skin or both. The result is a hollow-looking droopy breast.
POINTS TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT BEFORE BREAST LIFT SURGERY
As with other breast surgery, it is appropriate to discuss with your doctor why you want to operate and what you expect from this operation. If your family has a history of breast disease or cancer, smoking, drug addiction or systemic illness, tell it to your doctor. Ask your doctor the type of operation and possible problems.
Talk with your doctor about your post-operative expectations, so your doctor may recommend breast lift, breast prosthesis + breast lift or breast lift surgery with oil injection.
BREAST LIFT SURGERY
In the aesthetic breast lift operation, the breast tissue in the drooping state is reshaped and excess skin is removed. The nipple is brought to which it should be. The operation is performed in the operating room under hospital conditions with general anesthesia. It takes 2 to -3 hours on average. Depending on the degree of the ptosis, scars remain in various shapes. It is inevitable that there is a scar around the nipple no matter which method is applied. If a breast lift surgery is performed with the incision made from around the nipple, the scar around the nipple may be more obvious. In addition to a scar around the nipple in other breast lift operations, it can leave a scar of 4-5 cm length extending downward from the middle of the lower part of the nipple. Ptosis can be also removed only by placing the breast prosthesis in the patients who are eligible for the procedure. Therefore, the surgical scar is only hidden into the junction of the brownish skin of the nipple and the white skin of the breast and becomes minimal. There is no any scarless breast lift surgery. However, these scars are obvious at first, and become hardly visible in time.
WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU AFTER THE BREAST LIFT SURGERY?
The post-operative process is usually comfortable. The pain is not a problem. There may be limitation on arm movements if the breast prosthesis is used for the operation. A bra-like bandage is applied to the breasts. A separate dressing is applied to the nipple. The dressing will be opened and the wound will be checked after 2 days. The bandage is removed after 7 days. Sutures are removed after 7-10 days. The patient is dressed with sports bra for 6 weeks and massage is recommended. There may be swelling, numbness in the nipple and purplish discoloration on the skin during the early period. They disappear spontaneously in a short time.
RETURN TO NORMAL LIFE AFTER BREAST LIFT SURGERY
The patient can return to work within 3-4 days. It is recommended to stay away from heavy sports for 3 months. Aesthetic breast lift surgery is a surgery that generally provides a good and lasting result, which improves the mental health of the person and makes them more attached to life. The newly shaped breast is long lasting, but weight changes, pregnancy, breastfeeding and gravity can lead to new ptoses.
